Tanya's Wedding Part I

My little sister got married on Oct 11 in the Washington DC temple. We flew there a couple of days before to enjoy sight seeing with family. We had a marvelous time! This post is everything that we did before and after the wedding.

The boys did pretty good on the plane. Dallin was occupied for awhile with a video on the kindle.

When we arrived at the hotel, Tanya and Clay had these adorable gift bags for us and all the guests that stayed at the hotel. Her wedding theme was "a more perfect union" because her and Clay love America and they met while working on capital hill. The gift basket included chocolates in the shape of the capital building, their favorite DC hot sauce, and a purse-size copy of the US Constitution!

On Thursday, we joined Tanya in the temple for her first time there to make certain promises with God. It was wonderful. We got some cool shots of Tanya and Clay on their way to the temple door.

Here's a couple pics of me and Jeremy in front of the temple. It is so big and beautiful! I love the Spirit that I feel walking around the grounds and being inside. It's nice to be in a place where all my thoughts can be focused on God.

Tanner was sooo excited to meet his new uncle. When he saw Clay for the first time, Tanner put his arms out toward him and gave him a big hug. Clay picked him up and said, "Tanner! I'm so excited to meet you!!" And Tanner said, "Yes! And I'm so excited to meet YOU!"
Alas, I don't have any pictures of them together.
That evening, we went out for Thai dinner with Clay's parents, my parents, Tanya and Clay and our boys. Then we walked around the little harbor and went to get cupcakes at one of their favorite cupcake shops.

This neighborhood is near Tanya and Clay's house. It looks a lot like the streets in Disneyland, except this is the real deal, old fashioned and from the beginning. 

On Friday morning, we went with Nana and Papa to Tanner's first choice of DC attractions: the Museum of Natural History to see the dinosaur bones. Little did we know that the dinosaur display is under construction for the next five years, so there weren't any dinosaurs to see. But that was okay, there were plenty of other awesome things to check out!

Then, we walked to the Washington monument. Tanner was really excited to see it in person. I've been reading him books about DC, and he said he wanted to see the tall tower. Now he calls it the Washington Monument, and pronounces it perfectly every time he sees it.

"Look! Look! Look!" Dallin had to point at everything.

On Friday night, we had a fancy dinner with the bride and groom's families and the wedding party. It was nice to meet all of Clay's family and visit with my cousins and Grandma Robertson.

The wedding was Saturday, which I'll post about later. 

On Sunday, we went to the Space Museum with my cousins and parents. The boys loved it!

Crazy coincidence, my best friend Taryn from California was on vacation in DC the same weekend that we were there. So she took a detour from her adventures to meet up with us for a few minutes at the museum. What a special treat!!

After the museum, we went to Gravelly Point Park to watch Nana and Papa take off in an airplane. Tanner got a fighter jet toy and played with it the whole time. I think he was more interested in his toy than the real airplanes looming overhead. "This is my fighter jet that Grandpa Papa gave me because he wanted me to have it. It's NOT an ayeplane it's a fighter jet. Fighter jets are faster than ayeplanes. They go SO fast!"

I'm so glad we got to enjoy a few sights in DC with our boys and that the boys could spend some time with Tanya and Clay before their big day!
