Our Epic Family Trip continued as we left Laie, Hawaii on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 am. We spent all of Weds and some of Thurs getting to Sacramento for Grandma Davidson's funeral.

We had a layover in LA.
When we got our luggage in Sacramento, it was 1:00 am, Thursday. Then, Jeremy took care of things with getting our rental car. It was a long wait, so me and the boys became very acquainted with a few airport chairs, baggage carousels and the airport floor, hoping that Jeremy would come to get us soon. We were really glad to get in a bed around 2:30 am.
Thursday was a big play day with all of the six Zavoral grandkids. It was neat to have them all be together for the first time! Even though this trip was for Grandma's funeral and we wished we didn't need to all come together for such an occasion, we tried to make the most of the time the kids had together. They played with hot wheels, shopping carts, and rocks. They jumped on the trampoline and explored at the park. Super fun!
Dallin was in love with the dog, Cody. He followed him around the house, talked about his eyes and nose and tail and fed the dog his snacks.

On Thursday and Friday evening, we had music time. I got to lead everyone in some music activities that I do with the families in my preschool music class that I teach. Then, we ended both nights with some amazing dance parties. EVERYONE danced! It was some of the best fun I've had in pretty much my entire life! It was really neat to see my boys playing with all of their adorable cousins.

and some work!
Thursday evening, we went to the viewing. Tanner was really happy to see Great Grandpa Davidson. Our last time seeing him and Grandma was July 2014. Tanner has an impeccable memory, so he remembers them well. We told Tanner about Grandma passing away the same day that she died, and he took the news much better than Jeremy and I did. At the viewing he asked to see Grandma's body. He did very well with it and said in the sweetest voice, "She still looks like Grandma Davidson!"
The funeral was beautiful. Very special in more ways than I can express in a blog post. Just like Grandma.
One unique thing about her funeral is that she requested everyone wear smiley face stickers and take an entire sheet of smiley face stickers home with us so that we would remember how the gospel of Jesus Christ can help us be happy on the outside and on the in. She didn't want any sad faces at her funeral.
After the dedication of the grave, we took pictures. If you notice, Grandma's coffin has a pink tint to it. She requested this so that all her grand kids would not be afraid of coffins, haha. We each got to take a flower from her coffin.
After the grave dedication, we had a beautiful luncheon at the church with family and friends. We were able to hear more stories and memories of Grandma. Then, later that day we had food and games at Suzie and Kevin's house.
We had a really fun time playing the game "Heads up!" with our cellphone. It's kind of like catch phrase, but funner. Here's some of the girls going crazy with it.
It was really nice to visit with extended cousins, including the amazing Trisa!
We managed to get some cute photos of all the Zavoral grandkids.

The next morning was Sunday, March 15. We left at 4 am to finally go home to Minnesota. From Seattle to Hawaii to Sacramento, we ended up being gone 17 days! Wow, that was one EPIC TRIP!
